Umm, who are The Hides?
The Hides is an Australian owned and operated leather goods company, proudly crafting bags, smalls and footwear in our Sydney workrooms.
Launched in 2017, The Hides was founded and helmed by Australian Rachelle Dendle Crerar. Rachelle has been in the fashion industry for quite some time, gathering a rich wealth of insights into what women like and don’t like to wear on their arm/s and feet.
Where are The Hides made?
Quality is everything to us. The Hides are beautiful products and we are very proud to make in Sydney, Australia.
By hand. Every single piece. By a very clever team of makers.
The Hides philosophy is rooted in simple, precisely focused design and quality construction, with a genuine commitment to sustainable Australian manufacturing.
With small, exclusive production runs determined by the availability of our highly covetable, distinctive leathers, each product embraces the perfect serendipity of its hide - Pepper, Rich Blacks and Milky Whites - ensuring every piece is entirely unique.
TRANSPARENT and RESPONSIBLE
We stand 100% behind the quality of our product and we are built on full transparency and a zero waste approach. We stand by our goods from origin to finished product - we make it our business to know every single detail.
The Hides offer distinctive design, principled product – and no bullshit. We work with two very reputable tanneries in New Zealand and Brazil. Our leathers are by-products of these country’s strong, established and well-regulated beef export industries. The cruelty free tanning methods we employ minimise the production of waste and volatile compounds.
Both tanneries hold Leather Working Group awards for their sustainable and responsible environmental business practices. They also conform to the ISO and REACH certifications.
We love The Hides, and we think you will too.
Life’s too short not to look good every day.
How do I care for my Cowhide?
cowhide is natural
Cowhide is a naturally stain resistant and repellant material. If cleaning is necessary, spot clean with a damp cloth. Never submerge any leather products in water.
Initial shedding may occur around the edges where the hide has been cut. This will cease over time.
Our leather trims are hardy for day to day use and can tolerate rain. If you wish, you can apply a protective leather spray.
Never submerge any leather products in water. Spot clean with a damp cloth if necessary.
I love #MyHide
